UFC books both Bonfim brothers for same event

The Bonfim brothers will face each other once again on the same UFC card.

At a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for February 15 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Gabriel Bonfim and Ismael Bonfim will look to repeat the success they found at UFC 283 in January 2023.

Gabriel (16-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) takes on fellow rising welterweight Rinat Fakhretdinov (23-1-1 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC) in a fight first reported by Eurosport NL.

Ismael (20-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will face Nazim Sadykhov, trained by Ray Longo (9-1-1 MMA, 2-0-1 UFC) in a three-round lightweight bout, first reported by Laerte Viana. .

UFC 283 is the only time the brothers have competed on the same UFC card to date. Gabriel submitted Mounir Lazzez via guillotine choke in 49 seconds, shortly after Ismael knocked Terrance McKinney unconscious with a vicious knee strike.

Since then, Gabriel has gone 2-1 with wins over Trevin Giles and Ange Loosa, as well as a loss to Nicolas Dalby. Ismael went 1-1 with a loss to Benoit Saint Denis and a win to Vinc Pichel.

Fakhretdinov enters the fight following a controversial unanimous decision victory over Carlos Leal in October. The win extended his winning streak to two, also including a split decision win over Dalby.

Sadykhov won back-to-back fights against Evan Elder and Terrance McKinney before a majority draw against Viacheslav Borshchev in November 2023. Sadykhov has since faced several cancellations due to his opponents withdrawing.
