The Denver Broncos have quietly built up a brick wall on defense this year. They are third in the league in total defense and scoring defense and enter Week 13 leading the NFL in sacks. While good defenses against perhaps unexpected playoff contenders don’t often get a lot of press, rookie quarterbacks who can lead their teams to the playoffs do. Enter Bo Nix, who was solid for much of his rookie season, completing nearly 65 percent of his passes and throwing just six interceptions in 399 pass attempts. Defending and not turning the ball over has been an effective strategy for the 7-5 Broncos, who head into Monday Night Football holding one of the AFC wild card spots.

They’ll face a Jameis Winston-led Cleveland Browns team that’s riding a wave of confidence, to say the least. They’ve beaten the Ravens and Steelers in recent weeks and seem to have something cooking with Winston’s energy under center. They’ll look to play spoilsport again with the national spotlight on them after Thursday night’s win last week in a Cleveland snow globe.

Live2 updates

  • Browns inactive: Cedric Tillman is out

Cédric Tillman is one of the Browns’ inactives. Cleveland’s No. 2 receiver did not practice this week after suffering a concussion in Week 12.

  • Broncos inactives are present

Denver’s inactives are present without any notable surprises. Cornerback Riley Moss is out with a knee injury (MCL) suffered last week against the Raiders.
