Dakota Ditcheva doesn’t know what’s in store for her after winning the PFL women’s flyweight championship.

At the 2024 PFL Championship, Ditcheva (14-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) picked former UFC title challenger Taila Santos to win the title and a $1 million prize. On paper, Santos (22-4) was the toughest challenge of Ditcheva’s career, but she shined in a fantastic performance that ended in a second-round stoppage of the match.

“He’s the first person I feel like I’ve looked up to and watched in the UFC, and now I’ve just fought,” Ditcheva told talkSPORT MMA in a post-fight interview. “For me, it’s a very big moment. In fact, I feel like I was sitting there talking to myself before the fight, and I was thinking to myself that it didn’t even make me feel like crazy pressure to fight for a million dollars or something. world title. I feel like I’m going there to beat Santos. … It was a really strange mentality that I had, but I feel like maybe that’s what helped me.

The undefeated Ditcheva has now won two PFL tournaments: the 2023 PFL European Championship and the 2024 PFL Championship. She is confident that her skills are a level above the competition in the tournament format and wonders if It’s time to compete in the PFL Superfight Series.

“I don’t know, we haven’t talked too much about it with the PFL,” Ditcheva said. “I think it’s difficult because for me, I just beat the best girl in the world. So if you put me back in the tournament, I’ll have more stick to fight the same girls and the same lower level people.

“So does it make sense to do this with someone who, I feel like, gets a lot of attention and stuff like that, so I think maybe a great combat might be a little better fit, but then, is anyone going to do it? watch the season without me in it? I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.
