Patriots-Colts Stock Watch: Henry’s mistake proves costly in Pats’ loss originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
It’s time to play the blame game after the New England Patriots’ 10th loss of the 2024 NFL season.
Sunday’s 25-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium may have been the Patriots’ most deflating loss of the campaign. They had a seven-point lead when they punted the Colts with just over five minutes left, then Indy rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson led a 19-play touchdown drive followed by the winning two-point conversion.
Our Tom E. Curran and Phil Perry have different views on what led to the demise of New England. Curran blamed the coaching staff’s conservative approach while Perry took issue with the team’s mental errors.

Here are Curran and Perry’s “Stock Up” and “Stock Down” picks for Week 13.
Stock falling
Bryce Baringer, P.
Pear: “Not only did he have the catch in question, but the only punt he had was kind of a shank.”
Hunter Henry, T.E.
Pear: “I hate doing that, because he had a good game, and then he got shaken up, and I wonder if that affected him. … A very reliable guy, generally speaking, but who had this difficult interception in his hands.
Store
Alex Austin, CB
Courran: “It was a penalty given to him for checking (Alec) Pierce on that play. But other than that penalty, he still gets a Stock Up from me because he had several good pass breakups and plated.
Pear: “You were asking for another big corner. Maybe he’ll be able to string together a few games here down the stretch and they’ll feel like they can use him next year.”
Antonio Gibson, RB
Pear: “What a touchdown from him. He made about four arm tackles, it was like running behind Mike Onwenu, who was shooting on the play. Nice run of sorts with a downhill power gap pattern.
Drake Maye, quarterback
Pear: “Drake Maye was dealing today. Just dealing. I mean, some of those throws, the cuts to Kendrick Bourne where he was kind of waiting for him to clear the linebacker and he hits him on the move, the touchdown to Sideline rusher Austin Hooper notices man coverage…Drake Maye, for me, is a Stock Up after a rough outing last week in Miami.
