If you see Randy Moss wearing sunglasses during Sunday’s NFL Countdown on ESPN, there’s a reason for that choice.

The Hall of Fame catcher-turned-analyst opened Sunday’s show by explaining that he would wear blue-tinted glasses because he and his family are “fighting something internally.” Moss made it clear he would be fine.

“I have great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys, I feel great. But if you all see me with these Michigan turnaround glasses that I’m wearing , that’s not being disrespectful,” Moss said. “I’m fighting something.”

In a video posted to Instagram before the show, Moss said the “internal” problem had persisted over the past week and that he would be wearing glasses throughout the show.

“Throughout the holiday week, your boy was struggling with something internal,” Moss said. “I have a wonderful team of doctors and a wonderful family around me.”

In the video, Moss added that ESPN insider Adam Schefter referred to the pair of blue-tinted sunglasses as “Michigan turnover glasses” — a timely joke following the victory Michigan against Ohio State on Saturday.

Moss did not provide more information about the disease or the cause behind the glasses, but encouraged people to consult their doctor. “Do your exams, do your blood work and we’ll work on it,” he said.

Moss has been an analyst on Sunday NFL Countdown since 2016 and is the show’s longest-serving panelist.
