Many expect him to be next in line for a shot at the title. Merab Dvalishvili after winning a unanimous vote. decision over Cory Sandhagen in the main event of UFC on ABC 7 in August. The undefeated Dagestani has not been booked for a fight since.
On the surface, it seemed like he was waiting for the title picture to become clear, as Dvalishvili didn’t seem interested in the fight.
While uncertain matchmaking could certainly play a role in his return, Nurmagomedov revealed in a social media post on Friday that he had recently suffered a broken arm, but was now ready to fight according to the calendar.
“I had a small fracture in my arm and couldn’t play in January,” Nurmagomedov wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “My arm is fine now and I’m open to any offer. Anyone, anywhere!! @ufc”
Nurmagomedov was recently linked to rumors that he would face Song Yadong in January at UFC 311, which could be the early 2025 matchup he was referring to.
If Dvalishvili opts for a rematch against Sean O’Malley or Petr Yan, the 28-year-old Nurmagomedov will find himself on the outside looking in, but appears keen to remain active in 2025.
